Getting Started

The list of available media input devices available to the current computer are shown. The present page can be used to test these devices locally. More importantly, various user tasks involving media exchange can be naturally started from this page. Here they are classified by the type, which is one of the following

  • Audio inputs: A list of audio input devices (microphones). One of them, if any, can be selected to generate audio stream of local environment to be sent to a set of targeting endpoints for listening. If there are multiple audio input devices to choose from and none of them is set to be the "default", then the default behavior of the system is to randomly choose one. One can use the local play button to test the characteristics of each audio input device and give it a meaningful name accordingly. It can then be used properly according to their characteristics under different application context. For those devices that are not functional, one can check the "Skip" checkbox to skip them from being included.
  • Video inputs: A list of video input devices (video camera). One of them, if any, can be selected to generate video stream to be sent to a set of targeting endpoints for viewing. If there are multiple video input devices to choose from and none of them is set to be the "default", then the default behavior of the system is to randomly choose one from the ones facing the user in chatting application scenarios and the ones facing the environment in media cast or monitoring application scenarios. One can use the local play button to test the characteristics of each video input device and give it a meaningful name and facing direction accordingly. It can then be used properly according to their characteristics under different application context. For those devices that are not functional, one can check the "Skip" checkbox to skip them from being included.
  • Video stream for captured window: One can select an active desktop window to capture here. The live video stream of a captured window can be casted to a selected set of remote endpoints or be served on demand for a pre-selected set of remote endpoints to view in real-time later on.

Click
